among my followers? I'm nervously contemplating taking a hard left on my personal #Green #politics.
My dad was a Reagan Republican, my mom a card-carrying (progressive) #conservative
(sigh.) We often stayed at Premier Manning's (Sr.) when passing through #YEG.
So there'd be a fair bit of turning in graves if I went #left
of my current just-right-of-center.
But @amitakuttner @meryam.haddad
and yes, you, @dimitrilascaris
(although we've not yet met) really did make me pause, as has as our Great Pause, during the #GPC
Leadership race. They have one fundamental argument that I'm hard pressed to refute: #capitalism
is GrowGrowGrow which is just plain counter to the realities of our panet's ontology, ie it has its limits. So it and we are #screwed
if we don't reckon with reality. I had hoped that we could #greenify
capitalism but having experienced the Great Pause which has reminded us all of how we were meant to operate (anyone else notice heart-in-throat reminders of what nature could be?), I am prepared to cede. I am prepared to cede.
So: on to exploring other, less grossly destructive ways of Doing Economics and Doing human living on a shared planet (shared with fleas and orangutangs and deer too - and dachsunds! don't forget those feisty badger hunters!)
Any recommended reading material (nothing angry or irrational, please. And not.too.dense either)?
This all is quite a conundrum for a money coach with real estate holdings and a stock #portfolio) But at least I can and should explore ...
