Had Buckeyes WR Chris Olave been able to haul in a potential TD pass from Heisman Hopeful QB @justnfields
, Fields would have had what Mortal Kombat calls a "Flawless Victory." Fields completed 20/21 passing attempts for 276 yds and 2 TDs against Nebraska during the Buckeyes' opening game Saturday. He also rushed for 54 yds and another score on the ground.
Not much to say, such is the luxury of Ohio State's own lofty expectations/standards when there are still some things to coach up after a 52-17 win. The running back position a point of concern by me during the offseason, had some trouble getting traction. RB Master Teague still has no hip wiggle at all and Trey Sermon needs more carries to get into a better rhythm, as the Buckeyes look to replace the school's 2nd all-time leading rusher in the departed JK Dobbins.
Luckily the Buckeyes have at their disposal what maybe the nation's deepest/most talented WR core at their disposal. @garrettwilson_v
showed why they are top returning pass catching options for the Buckeyes, and heralded true freshman WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba @jaxsn11
made a highlight TD grab as well on Saturday.
The defense can tighten up on being in the right position assignment wise, and generating some more pass rush up front. But all in all nothing to worry about after the Buckeyes long awaited season debut.
