Many of the untold Stories will live on forever in the hearts and memories of the Next Generation.
In 2019, the Club formerly known as Ajax Cape Town took on @orlandopirates
in the Opening Match of the u14 @fckapstadt
Lucky Star Tournament.
For many if not for all the boys, it was their first every time coming up against one of the Biggest Football Clubs in Africa, at youth football. As a Coach, I knew the youth football development of the Club and boys was at stake, it wasn't about winning a match by hook or crook.
How far have we developed, what type of Football do we want to play, even if it's a Tournament and how will their mentality be once they face this opponent... was what I constantly asked myself.
In this interview, he says it all.
It wasn't about the size of the Giant, it was about what was invested in the heart of the one going to battle.
History will say, we won the opening match but the football that was played by these #Urbanwarriors
remains in my memory.
How they won it was down to the Believe I could instill in them that they could do it.. It was a Journey, never to be forgotten, I still get goosebumps looking at the pictures, listening to his interview because nobody could sum it up better than a kid who has confidence.
As a Youth Coach, it's not about how many matches, championships, tournaments or trophies you win.. It's how you guide that little human being, developing his mind and body to Believe that he or she can make it.
Confidence is built, never to be broken .
Hope it inspires others to also say "I never came this Far, to only come this far."
When you take care of the small details, the big things takes care of itself.
