I keep hearing people say "2020 is the worst year ever" or "I can't wait for 2020 to be over." It bothers me to no end. Literally nothing will magically change when the calendar shows a new year. Has 2020 been hard, frustrating, devastating, and filled with hurt for many people? Certainly. But that doesn't change the fact that it is a year that we have been gifted to be on this earth. Y'all, we only get so many of those, and to sit around waiting for a year to be over because it's been a tough one means we're not taking in the full human experience. When something is hard, we can't just wish for it to be over (especially when that end is an arbitrary flip of a page). We embrace the struggle, live in the frustration, and learn from it. 2020 has been a great year for my family and for me personally because we made it that way. There were a lot of outside factors that were beyond our control - both good and bad - that impacted our year. But at the end of the day, you can only control you and your reactions to those outside factors. Let them cripple you, or let them teach you. Let them bully you, or let them help you grow. Let them stop you from living, or let them give you a new perspective on life. 2020 is not over. Don't let 2020 be a wasted year because you don't get that time back. Life may look different these days, but that doesn't mean you should stop living. What have you done with your 2020?
